Welcome to Primary 3!

Welcome to our blog. We will be using this to share our learning with you.

We have had an exciting first week back. On Thursday our new 'Scrap Store' opened! What fun we are having exploring and playing with all the wonderful variety of materials and resources from the shed. Here are some picture of us using our new scrap store!

Our Hamnavoe

With help from Miss Muir our class created a copy of the Hamnavoe out of junk boxes.

Once we made the correct shape we started to paint our model.

Some parts were quite tricky to paint.

After our visit on the Hamnavoe we created a replica of the Captain's deck.

We are having great fun playing in out Hamnavoe.

Well done Miss Muir and P2.

Another Active Week

Last week in maths we played ice-cream addition.

It was a good way to secure our knowledge of number bonds.

We were entertained by a folk group - they were good.

The whole school danced a celidh.
In Plan Do and Review we made boats out of junk boxes.

We then tested them in water to see if they would float or sink.

We also predicted whether a number of other objects would sink or float.

Our model of Stromness as seen from our classroom window is looking great - we have worked really hard on it.

Brinkie's Brae

As part of our Welly Wednesday we had a walk around Brinkie's Brae to gather inspiration to write about our Brinkie's Brae Trow.

It was a long way up to the top but we had great views of Stromness.

Although the clouds srarted turning black we were lucky that it only started raining when we got back into school.

We drew pictures of what we could see.

We also picked materials to look at under our digital microscope.

We talked about what our Trow would be doing up at the top of Brinkie's Brae and where would he live.

We gathered lots of inspiration for our writing.
