How we made a Rainforest Cafe

We had great fun transforming our classroom into a Rainforest Cafe.

We made animals to put on our rainforest scene

We planted grass seeds and cress to make a rainforest roleplay area.

We made leaves using paper and paint to create our vines.

We created posters in groups so that we could share our learning about animals from the rainforest.

In maths we have been learning about symmetry and made some great butterflies.

Wow our rainforest has really grown!

Our classroom is starting to look like a Rainforest.

As a class we drew a rainforest mural on our whiteboards.

Our snakes were created from paperchains.

Urghh we made tarantulas.

Our Rainforest Cafe.

World Book Day

We had a great World Book Day.

We joined P1 and P4/3 for some storytelling.

Tom Muir came into school to tell us about how the Orkney Islands were created.

It was an exciting tale.

Tom Muir then launched our whole school writing project.

We had found a treasure chest in the playground in the morning covered in seaweed and netting.

Tom Muir thought it had once belonged to Pirate Blackteeth.

He opened the treasure chest and found lots of exciting things inside inclusing a...

old postcards...

a pirate flag...

and binoculars.

It was very exciting and we can't wait until we start our writing next week about the contents of the treasure chest.

We have planted tatties in our classroom.

Mr MacCleod came into our class to show us how to plant tatties in a container.

We had lots of questions.

First we put compost into a container followed by the tatties.

We then put a tube in the centre to water the plants when we are not in school.
