End of term

Wow it's the end of term, can you believe you're finished primary 1? I can hardly believe it, you all look so big now!
Well tomorrow is our last day and we have lots to do.  If you like you may bring a toy or game to play with but you must take care of it.

Thank you for your feedback on your child's report.  If any families still need to return the feedback sheet could you do so as soon as possible? You do not have to fill in all the boxes, feel free to just sign at the bottom so I know that you have recieved it.  Also if you need another blank form, the office can supply one.

Wenlock and Mandeville

The children have requested I put a Youtube video that we use in class on the blog. It highlights good team work and some of the Olympic/Paralympic athletes competing in London this year.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=6Y1puA5zOYI&NR=1 this is a 5 minute video.

There is another exciting adventure that is 16 minutes long that the class also enjoy:

Thurday's Church Service

We will be going to the church at 2pm tomorrow and the service should finish around 3.  All children will be coming back to school (to save us taking school bags etc).  Feel free to come back with us and pick up your child a little early.
Today we had a practise in the hall and have been singing 'One more step along the world I go'.

Please remember only to fill in the return slip if you do NOT want us to take your child to the church service.

Families are welcome to attend too, hope to see you there :D

Our Olympic toches

These 3 girls have decided to make their own Olympic torches. I think they look fab!

Sports Day

Well done Primary 1!
Everyone joined in really nicely and I heard lots of you supporting each other. I hope you all had fun today - it looks like you did from these pictures.

Sports Day!

Just a reminder about Sports Day tomorrow.  Make sure you have a packed lunch (there will be no school dinners).  You will need appropriate clothes.  Even on sunny days it can feel cold at the market green.  You may also want to think about sun cream if we are out doors for most of the day.
Do not leave without telling Mrs Johnston first, she will be in the bright pink vest and has a list of all children in school, she will tick off your name when you leave.
Get ready for some fun! See you tomorrow :D

Oliver Jeffers spoke to us!

Today was very exciting, we had lots of fun listening to Oliver Jeffers and learned how to illustrate his character from 'The Hueys'.  We were delighted when he mentioned Primary 1 at Stromness Primary! He read out questions from David, Einar and Jamie-Leigh!
The workshop was 40 minutes long but Stromness are mentioned near the end from 31 minutes in.
Thank you to everyone who asked a question.  Most questions were answered as children from other schools asked similar questions.  In class we have had lots of children making their own books and many are thinking hard about thier illustrations - well done Primary 1.

Homework help

Hi,
Here is the links that will help your child to learn the Olympic Mascot Dance (This link shows children doing the dance, which I think is easier to follow:
 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzNM2wtwkRw&feature=related

However your child may prefer to watch Wenlock and Mandeville do the dance so here is that link too:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuI8SizQYnA

On this page, you can find instructions for each move (they are all linked to an Olympic or Paralympic sport).  Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Mascot dance primary"
http://getset.london2012.com/en/world-sport-day/opening-ceremony

Hope this helps and that the whole family can have some fun doing this :D
Today was very exciting, Inga was one of the official Olympic torch bearers and she brought her one in to show our class.  She even let everyone hold it! So we can all say that we have held an official Olympic torch.  We asked Inga some interesting questions and the children were interested in how the torch worked.
